About Us

Needle and Mink Tattoos is a private tattoo shop in Reston, VA. As a woman-owned and LGBT+ owned studio, we focus on creating a comfortable, safe environment for all individuals to receive quality tattoos! 

We are also Reston's first fine line studio, and we are proud to specialize in delicate line work and illustrative designs that other local studios do not cater to. We also are all massive nerds here, and anime and fandom tattoos are right up our alley!nThat said, however, we are by no means limited in style; we are more than happy to curate your design in whatever way you desire, and would love to talk with you to make your visions become a reality!  

We emphasize informed consent at all steps of the process, and try to ensure that everyone gets a patient and pleasant experience with their tattoos, no matter how large or small the design may be.

As we are a small private shop, our studio is by-appointment only (with the exception of special event walk-in days, posted up on our Instagram at @needleandminktattoos.) 

Since we are open by appointment, our hours are variable--please reach out to us if you're interested in coming for a tattoo or a consultation! Please note we are not currently offering piercings, just tattoos.

  The owner of Needle and Mink Tattoos, Meggie began her tattoo journey in 2019 and has been tattooing for over six years. Many come to her for her fine line tattoos or illustrative tattoos, or for nerdy tattoos where she can geek out over a shared fandom while inking. That said, she is open to tattooing in most styles! Watercolor, anime, black and grey, color, florals, ornamental, traditional, geometric, blackwork, full color: really anything is on the table (with the exception of photo-realistic portraiture).

Though centered out of her tattoo studio in Reston, VA, Meggie also loves traveling to tattoo at conventions. She has had the opportunity to tattoo in the Netherlands, the UK, and at conventions across the U.S. and cannot wait to tattoo more places!

Meggie holds a degree in Creative Writing from George Mason University with a minor in art and a minor in conservation from the Smithsonian. Once described as “Tattoo Miss Frizzle,” she’s trying her best to live up to such a lofty title! She loves her pet ferrets and will happily tell you all about them. (Now she also has a gecko!) She also loves bizarre fun facts, snails and other gastropods, getting lost in the woods, fantasy world building, reading good novels, and hearing all about the nuances of people’s niche interests.

Boatman started tattooing in 2020. She spent a lot of time growing up in tattoo shops and has been around ink most of her life. Her passion is anime tattoos! If you bring her a manga panel or a fandom tattoo she will likely be over the moon with excitement. 

That said, she does some of everything! Fine line, black and grey, full color, illustrative, floral, ornamental, blackwork-- basically all of it is on the table beyond photo-realistic portraits of people's face. She has traveled all across the U.S. to do tattoo conventions, so if you can't make it out to see her in Reston keep an eye out for con announcements! 

Originally studying animation, she realized she'd rather legally stab people for a living and has been tattooing since. She'll be excited to talk anime or cartoons with you, or to tell you about her pets (dogs and reptiles), or to dump some crazy personal lore that'll lead down a conversation rabbit hole.
